Harness the flexibility and intelligence of your BMW motorcycle's CAN bus electrical system to make installation of accessories drastically easier with the new and improved DENALI CANsmart™ Controller GEN II.
The DENALI CANsmart™ Controller provides plug-n-play installation and integrated control of up to four accessories to enable dozens of customizable settings that can be controlled right from the BMW "WonderWheel" or the CANsmart™ Accessory Manager Software.
The CANsmart's four circuits are preprogrammed to connect and independently control two sets of DENALI 2.0 lights, a SoundBomb horn, and our B6 auxiliary brake light.
Gen II - More Features, More Power, More Versatile
Unlike the Gen I CANsmart, all four circuits of the Gen II can provide a full 10 amps of continuous power and each circuit can be configured to run any accessory type. The maximum power draw for the whole unit remains at 30 amps continuous. The Gen II also features two new auxiliary light settings. You can now modulate your auxiliary lights for added conspicuity, and set your left and right side lights to independently cancel when you activate your corresponding turn signal.
Features
- High/Low Sync- Set auxiliary lights to switch between a programmable high/low setting with the factory high beam switch.
- ON/OFF and Dim- Independently control two sets of lights ON/OFF and change intensity level (for both day and night) right from your original vehicle switches.
- Modulate Lights- Set auxiliary lights to modulate to increase your visibility to other motorists.
- Flash to Pass- Need to get someone's attention? Pulse your high beam switch three times and your auxiliary lights will strobe three times fast.
- Cancel With Turn Signal- This feature cancels the corresponding auxiliary light when you turn your turn signal on preventing powerful auxiliary lights from overpowering your signal.
- Inverse Flashing With Hazards- This features flashes your auxiliary lights inversely to your hazard lights, increasing visibility during road side emergency's.
- Plug & Play Horn Installation- Quickly and easily connect high power aftermarket horns like our SoundBomb™ without having to add an additional harness or relay.
- Strobe with Horn- With this feature selected the CANsmart™ software will automatically strobe your auxiliary lights when you sound your horn. This feature works whether you have the factory horn or SoundBomb™ horn installed.
- Deceleration Activated "Smart Brake" Technology- The CANsmart™ reads vehicle speed in real time to activate your auxiliary brake light during deceleration before you even touch the brake. You can adjust the sensitivity and minimum speed at which the Smart Brake Feature will activate.
- Flash Pattern Braking- The CANsmart™ provides four different flash patterns that make our super bright auxiliary brake lights even noticeable to motorists behind you. You can set auxiliary brake lights to only flash under hard braking, flash continuously as your brake is applied or flash four times rapidly then hold steady (California legal flash rate).
- Circuit Function Selector- The Circuit Function Selector in the CANsmart software will let you run any accessory of your choice on any of the four circuits. Click on a circuit icon to open the drop down menu and make your selection from the list of available circuit functions.
- Switched Power Source- The CANsmart™ provides a universal "accessory" option which simply gives you clean switched 12V power. That means whatever accessory you connect to this circuit will turn on and off with your ignition.
- Delay Time Out- You can also set the accessories on this circuit to have a delayed time out. This will keep them powered for up to 30 seconds after your turn off your bike.
- On Board Power- The "accessory" circuit option is ideal for powering your GPS, phone, heated gear or any other electronic device.

Clearly Denali is cutting corners and sacrificing quality now. The harness terminals now come without the shrinkwrap that was installed in previous products, even the B6 adapter that comes with the CanSmart bundle comes without the shrinkwrap. I bought a spare B6 adapter and funny enough, that one DOES have shrinkwrap on it. Its quite a shame that Denali is now reducing costs and quality and increasing prices of their products. I attached a photo of an older harness from another CanSmart I bought a year ago.

Store owner replied: Thanks for taking the time to write this review. We are aware of this issue; we had a batch of these B6 adapters that were shipped from the factory without the heatshrink. The missing heatshrink will not affect the waterproofing of the connector. It's just a cosmetic issue.
Easy install, well constructed.

Easy install, easy set up, I can see EVERYTHING at night and everyone can see me during the day.
Only difficult part was finding the DWA plug on the R1300 GS Adventure. Once found the can buss fit into the bikes cavity under the passenger seat. The B6 light was used on the yellow circuit and the programming was easy.

I had the previous one on my BMW R1250GS >> this new one for the R1300 GS seems so good quality as the previous one and allows to manage the horn at the same time which is a good point (as we avoid a relay). Not install yet as until yesterday I was waiting for the cash bar to install the D4
This thing runs everything without slicing a single wire on my bike! Even the accessory channel has two Switched hot leads to trigger accessories. I'm also running some Clearwater lights, a Denali sound bomb, and a Clearwater Billy brake light. All working flawlessly. Thank you Denali!
Note that this CANsmart controller also works for the 2026 R1300RT. I am a little surprised that Denali has not updated their list of vehicles that are supported by this controller to include the 2026 R1300RT.

A. With the pigtails it is too cumbersome to put underneath the gs1300 seat. It would be nice if the pigtails were plug into the unit instead of hardwired to reduce space. B. The pigtails are dedicated for denali or similar products. If you need just an expansion to a generic item only one adapter is provided, and the connection type is irregular. C. There is no app for android or apple, which means you have to drag out your laptop to make any changes. I returned it and am still awaiting credit.

We have two CANsmarts installed on our R1300GS. We have pigtail adapters sold separately for anyone who needs to build adapters for products with different style connectors. Love the Denali products. Fully equipped my 2025 BMW R1300 GS Adventure with the full range including D7 Pros, D2 ambers, 2 Denali Smart Cans, Soundbomb, T3’s and a B6. Couldn’t be happier and the support from the Denali team was phenomenal. The team (Carsen) was responsive and provided excellent instruction.
Directions for installation could definitely be better. Denali says 30 minute install om my 2025 1300GSA but you really need to pull the tank for a proper install, which required removing 22 pieces if the bike and more bolts then i could count.

The T3’s connected to this Cansmart as directed (had same setup on M1000XR and worked fine. The turn does not come on on teo of them and also have an odd led flutter. Going to try and return all of this as hard to get live person to troubleshoot, though pretty straight forward how to connect.

I didn't compare the Denali products with other lights, but they're great. I just had a small issue with amperage, but after a chat this was solved.
This is my second one. I sent you an email about the fact that the yellow (brake) circuit is not working. I confirmed it using the diagnostic tool on the app. Fantastic. I pulled the harnesses through but need a new cansmart

It's a great item, but I think it would be better if the included cable could be separated into a y splitter cable and a straight cable.

Minor issue but support solved it Very pleased
Had the full D7 Pro package installed on new 1300GS, everything I expected after years of satisfaction on my old 1200GS CanBus package. My only complaint is this is 2024 and the CanBus still requires a USB-Micro cable. Trying to connect any modern laptop with USB-C ports only required a cable I did not own and will likely never use for any other situation. Also be nice if there was an iPad app, another good reason to switch to USB-C.
Installed both the CANSMART and the brake light on my 24 R13OO GS. Super high quality components, installation was straightforward and instructions were very good. I just added some note on the attached photos I sent in to help clarify where to interrupt the factor wires to insert the CANSMART wires. Best part is the fact that this brake light is beyond bright and attention getting!! I feel much better having this on the back as BMW did away with the stand alone brake light and opted for the turn signal / brake combo. 5 Stars on these products!! Highly recommend them.
